In a historic feat, the Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines (IPOPHL) recently launched its mobile application as it aimed to make access to the agency’s services easier.
Dubbed as “IPOPHL Mobiliz” IPOPHL’s mobile app was launched last 19 October 2020. The mobile app is available for download on Google Play and the App Store. According to the IPOPHL, the newly unveiled IPOPHL Mobiliz will facilitate all IPOPHL services, from filing to registration and raising reports or complaints against infringers. Users can also get updates on the status of their application and disputes and view schedules on IP learning courses. The IPOPHL Mobiliz is also seen to unload half of the daily calls the Office receives with regard to basic concerns and questions as the app provides an easy-to-follow, step-by-step guide for users to enjoy IPOPHL’s services.
The mobile app is IPOPHL’s latest digital upgrade in the agency’s digital transformation agenda which, already included a series of efforts in past months to provide a contactless and user-friendly experience to its stakeholders amid the COVID-19 pandemic. According to IPOPHL Director General Rowel S. Barba, IPOPHL Mobiliz “will help IPOPHL reach out to a wider audience and provide a convenient and faster way for securing intellectual property assets and further integrate IP in innovative, creative and entrepreneurial processes”.
The launch of the app, according to Director General Barba, is also “very timely” amid the recent IPOPHL policy that pushes IP applications to be strictly made online, ensuring the safety of stakeholders and its employees. It is also equally historic – being second only to Singapore IP Office’s mobile app for trademark registration.
